Bound-state Approach to Strangeness in the Skyrme Model*
نویسندگان
چکیده
We show that baryons carrying heavy flavors, such as strangeness and charm, can be described by bound states of the corresponding heavy mesons in the background field of the basic SU(2) skyrmion. This method is quantitatively successful to O(N~ ~), in the sense of the large-N c expansion, but at O(1/N,.) it experiences problems associated with our lack of knowledge of higher-derivative terms in the Skyrme action. We derive a model-independent mass relation for strange baryons which is in excellent agreement with experiment.

Strangeness in the Skyrme Model Abstract
Igor Klebanov * Department of Physics Joseph Henry Laboratories Princeton University Princeton, N J 08544 These lectures review the fundamentals of the Skyrme model of baryons and its relationship with the non-relativistic quark model and the large-N QCD. Special emphasis is placed on the problems the model experiences in perturbative treatment of SU(3) breaking. It is argued that the strange q...
متن کاملMeson-hyperon couplings in the bound-state approach to the Skyrme model
Kaon and pion coupling constants to hyperons are calculated in the bound-state approach to strangeness in the Skyrme-soliton model. The pion and kaon coupling constants are properly defined as matrix elements of source terms of the mesons sandwiched between two single-baryon states. Numerical calculation of the coupling constants shows that the bound-state approach well reproduce the empirical ...

We reconsider the relationship between the bound state and the SU(3) rigid rotator approaches to strangeness in the Skyrme model. For non-exotic S = −1 baryons the bound state approach matches for small mK onto the rigid rotator approach, and the bound state mode turns into the rotator zero-mode. However, for small mK , we find no S = +1 kaon bound states or resonances in the spectrum, confirmi...
متن کاملLoosely bound hyperons in the SU(3) Skyrme model.
Hyperon pairs bound in deuteronlike states are obtained within the SU(3) Skyrme model in agreement with general expectations from boson exchange models. The central binding from the Qavor-symmetry-breaking terms increases with the strangeness contents of the interacting baryons whereas the kinetic nonlinear o-model term 6xes the spin and isospin of the bound pair. We give a complete account of ...

-. We diagonalize exactly the O(Nf) H amiltonian relevant to the bound state approach to strangeness in the Skyrme model.
